The Philips BTENDER projector is one of a kind. Not only does it have one of the most, shall we say, unique names of any projector we have run across, but it also performs beautifully, as most Philips projectors do.

The BTENDER is an enigma, wrapped in a mystery, shrouded in wonder. The specs for the BTENDER are solid if not a little better than most projectors. The projector lamp inside the unit, which is a 132W projector lamp outputs a sturdy 1100 ANSI lumens. A rating such as this, while not overly bright is still much higher than most of the ANSI lumens ratings on the projectors and projectors lamps that were released around the same time period.

The BTENDER was released in January of 2003 and has since then been discontinued. However, the projector lamps for the BTENDER continue to be held in high demand. Another wonderful thing about the BTENDER is the fact that it was manufactured with the entertainment of the end user in mind. The projector is completely HDTV compatible, with every setting from 1035i all the way down to 575i and including 1080i and 720p available. The projector also demands respect by boasting a 500:1 contrast ratio, which will make even the darkest of dark movies appear in great detail, with amazingly subtle variations on the dark colors.

My good friend Jitender has the Philips BTENDER (yes, I know that it is ironic and actually kind of funny). He let us test it out while watching The Shawshank Redemption with the great actor Morgan Freeman narrating and staring as the character Red. I have to say that Jitender’s BTENDER performed almost as well as Morgan Freeman did. The colors were breathtaking and the screen door effect was absent. The projector shone with a brilliance not found in many projectors we have tested.
